ARTIST STATEMENT

Having failed at sainthood--my career choice at 15-- the drama of living my own condition and of being human is my interest and exploration.

I observe the world as a witness without judgment, as a journalist who gives accounts of what she sees; and in these accounts there are stories that constantly attempt to bring heaven to earth and earth to heaven, as well as making gods humans and humans, gods

I am particularly interested in the monastic characters I draw and paint because of their unquestionable belief in the infallibility of an absent divine lover. My characters live from their human capacity to invent stories. Their divine power makes sudden appearances to talk to them, to make love with them and to give them advice and provide them with everything they need in order for them to continue existing.
